Pala provides grants directly to eyecare projects in Africa which might include building a new Vision Center or dispensary, purchasing equipment, or supporting an outreach program – all sustainable, long term solutions that facilitate eyecare, eye-tests and provision of spectacles. From the funding of these projects they can calculate a ‘cost per patient’ helped and it is that cost that you provide through buying their eyewear.
Pala's Eyewear cases provided with each purchase are handwoven from recycled plastic, and handwoven by women in Africa who are then provided with a safe, stable job with an above average fair wage. This effort helps both the environment and empowers women.
