Robe Ruby Cotton

A unisex robe by LILY FORBES. This fabric is handwoven from cotton fibers dyed with madder root. The weave of the fabric is a medium weight denim. it is a perfect lightweight jacket, perhaps in Spring or Fall or Summer in San Francisco, but can also be worn with a turtleneck underneath or over a swimsuit…someone say versatility???

The naturally dyed denim is handwoven by the Ali family (4 generations) outside of Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, India. Heritage weaving is an important part of the local economy and history, and sadly, is a dying craft. The Ali family weaves cloth specifically for LILY FORBES with fibers naturally dyed in a small, family-run, safe, clean facility in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh. The cotton threads are dyed by third generation natural dyer, Mahesh.
