Arcade NW is a Seattle based non-profit and publication, established in 1981, specializing in art and architecture, thinking about the intentionality and influence of the designed environment.

Issue 42.1: Materiality explores how design and architecture have the ability to constrain, suppress, embrace, limit, or uplift. From anti-homeless benches to wildlife bridges to ICE Detention Facilities, design represents a spectrum of the best and worst intentions of culture, community, and our integration with the natural world.
