About

Founded by Maggie Stoll in 2017, Burke Mercantile is a one woman owned-and-operated modern lifestyle shop that brings together conscious fashion and contemporary design. With a focus on independent brands, the space aims to build community by supporting progressive change-makers and emerging designers in the industry. Each of our unique products are carefully curated with humans, the environment, and thoughtful design in mind.

As a Long Beach resident of 15+ years, Maggie Stoll has a strong dedication to the regional creative community. After 9 years in corporate and independent retail, she opened her sustainable fashion and lifestyle boutique Burke Mercantile in 2018 and has held a Green Business Certification since 2020. Through the Burke Residency Program Maggie developed and implemented at her downtown Long Beach flagship boutique from 2019-2025, she was able to highlight and share the stories and work of over 35 emerging contemporary artists and fashion designers. Her north star has always been people and planet before profit.

In 2024, Maggie was awarded a Woman of Distinction Award from Assemblymember Josh Lowenthal, after being nominated by her entrepreneurial peers for her leadership efforts in the East Village Arts District of Downtown Long Beach. With an extensive career in commercial retail and spatial design, Maggie has also been able to use her skills to provide creative consultation for many independent businesses in Long Beach as well as design projects for residential clients. You can find out more about her design practice at burkecreativeconsulting.com
